This is going to my last post, once again my name is Ng Chia Wei are study Bachelor Degree of Public Relation in Tunku Abdul Rahman University College.   

I would like to thanks Ms. Sabina for guiding us throughout the entire semester. I am really appreciate to have a chance to write and share my opinion on these 13 week coursework topics.

Cyber harassment is a criminal, it is the use of the internet to make unsolicited advances, communications or interactions with another person or entity.  A true definition of cyber harassment or cyber stalking does not yet exist due to the many forms it can take. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, one key point in defining and using the terms cyber harassment and cyber bullying is the perpetrator’s age. In most cases, the term cyber bullying refers to unsolicited communications or stalking activities between minors. The term cyber harassment is normally used when adults are involved.

Jessica (Jesse) Logan, was a petite, blond-haired, blue-eyed Ohio high school senior who committed suicide after sexting a nude photo of herself to her boyfriend. When they broke up, he sent the photo to everyone else at her school. Jesse was cruelly harassed for months by the other girls at her school, who called her a slut and a whore. When Jessie’s grades dropped, she started skipping school and when she did go to school, she would hide in the bathroom to avoid being teased.

Jesse Logan decided to tell her story on a Cincinnati television station. Her purpose was simple: “I just want to make sure no one else will have to go through this again.” The interview was in May 2008. Two months later, on July 3, 2008, Jessie attended the funeral of a boy who committed suicide, then came home and killed herself.Her mother found her hanging in the closet with Jessie’s cell phone on the floor nearby.

The Cyber Harassment of Amanda Todd

The story of Amanda Todd began just like all cyber bullying stories begin. Amanda was born in 1996 in British Columbia, Canada, and was a happy easy going person, until she was introduced to an anonymous person on Facebook who flattered her so much to the point of convincing her to flash her topless body to him. A year later, the same person or another anonymous person sent her the picture and it went viral, creating a mass of bullying and teasing to the point that she had to change schools several times. Her reputation was ruined, she had no friends, she was beaten up by some classmates, she tried drinking bleach but was saved at the last minute. Months later, Amanda Todd took her own life.
After her death, her YouTube video went viral to the point of reaching more than 17 million views. People were shocked when they learned about the Amanda Todd Story and reached out to her family. The authorities began a mass inquiry especially with the inspiration and the help of Amanda’s bullying video.  To the shock of everyone, the hate campaign continued online after Amanda’s passing, people ridiculed her suicide and made fun of the entire story, they even said she deserved what had happened to her. The cyber bullying continued despite appeals for people to see the real tragedy behind Amanda’s death. The famous Anonymous hacking group even went on amassive search to defend Amanda and find the person who tormented and blackmailed her online but the authorities did not see him as a person of interest in the case.

Tips To Protect Yourself From Cyber Harassment


1.Conduct an internet search using your name and phone number 
You must be sure that there is nothing out there that you are not aware of. A cyber stalker may have created a craigslist account, web page or blog about you. Only you can stay on top of how your name is being used online.

2. Password protect all accounts 
It is including cell phones, land lines, e-mails, banking and credit cards with a secure password that would  be difficult for anyone to guess. Change it every year. Your secret questions should not be easily answered either. Former VP candidate Sarah Palin's secret "reminder" questions were so easy to answer that a cyber stalker was easily able to gain access to her email accounts.  

3.Never give out your Social Security Number 
It is unless you are absolutely sure of who is asking for it and why. With your "social" as they call it in the business, a cyber stalker now has access to every part of your life.


   
Why I chosen this topic? 

The reason that I choose to discuss this topic(Cyber Harassment) is because nowadays the Cyber Harassment is become a very serious issue. The new media today is not only to change public in the positive way but also change the public in negative way. In our society nowadays, the most hardest issue for us to resolve is Cyber Harassment so that I chosen this topic to discuss in today and hope all of my readers can have more knowledge about this Cyber Harassment.

today the topic that I'm going to discuss is "Crisis Communication and Social Media".


What is Crisis Communication?

Crisis communication is the effort taken by a company(especially Public Relations) to communicate with public and stakeholders when an unexpected event occur that could have a negative impact on the company's reputation. Normally, Public Relation function to  save an organization’s reputation against various threats when the organization having crisis communication. Crisis communication usually involves tools like press conferences, media relations and social media. The main purpose of Crisis Communication team is to protect the brand identity and maintain the organization’s firm standing within the industryCrisis Communication specialists strive hard to overcome tough situations and help the organization come out of difficult situations in the best possible and quickest way.

 

Importance of incorporating social media into crisis communication plan:

1. Immediately response 

During crisis, an immediate response to the public is essential. Social media is an online platform that enable information to spread speedily without times and space constraint and it is allow public to share their dissatisfaction in both positive and negative sides. Thus, incorporating social media to response during crisis is important in order to alleviate further damage to the victims in the crisis.

2. Effective two-way communication

Social media allow two way communication between an organization and public. The organization or the PR of the organization can have a direct interaction with the audience during crisis. Social media is a communication tool that provide two ways communication allow the social media users to communicate with other. 

3. Monitoring situation

Social media can be used as a tool to monitor the situation after a crisis happened. Therefore, by monitoring the feedback on social media, an organization can come out a better strategies to solve the crisis. Public Relation Practitioners (PRP) always advised to use the social media to monitor the response of the audience and can reply the audience immediately. The Public Relation Practitioner can come out better strategies and tactics to handle the crisis.

6 Step to make a good new media plan

1. Set Objective

objective is one of the important thing in a new media plan, it play an important roles in order to give a clear path of what you intend to achieve as a benefit of new media.

2.Prepare anew media platform list

Platform is a way or place you place you message to the public. Decide a platform have to be more carefully because a suitable platform can help you widespread your business. The example of platform is Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and so on. 

3. Target Audience

Target audience have divided into two categories, the internal audience and external audience. What is internal audience and external audience? The internal audience is those employees and they stakeholder in the company and the external audience is those public. In the previous step if we use the suitable platform than only can reach large amount of the audience. 

4. propose new media strategies and tactics

Strategies and tactic is a thing or idea that you plan to achieve the objective that you are set in the step one. Strategies is something big like idea, and tactic is the activity or thing do to support the strategies. 

5. Gantt Chart 

Gantt Chart show all the step and your plan in to a chart. It is use for plan on upcoming events and also to have a clearly picture for what you need to do next step. Running plan using the Gantt chart can make sure the work can complete on time.


6. Evaluation

The last step to  make a good new media plan is evaluation, evaluation is the most important step  because is use to find out the objective that are set in the first step is that successful or not. Feedback from public is very useful and important to improve.

the topic that i want discuss this week is "Handling Online Feedback, Reviews and Dissatisfaction".

I think Air Asia has handle very well to all the the online feedback, review and dissatisfaction because all the feedback that public comment Air Asia will reply although they may took more time to reply but they also reply their customer on midnight. Though this we can see that Air Asia really care about their customer and Air Asia also use a very manners way to reply their customer. Beside that, Air Asia also no attempting to hide what their customer comment about their company, they try to help their customer solve the problem.  


Key to handle negative feedback and dissatisfaction

1. Apologize
 Do not giving any excuses to the customer, express understanding and empathy without blaming customer . Use a proper and manner way to apologize, it will reduce the customer anger and the customer will feel our company is responsibility.   

2. Contact the audience privately
A better way to communicate with costumer who are complaints is offline, by sending the customer a private message. This action can let the audience feel the company care to them and it also can avoid any misunderstanding in the issues.  

3. Quick respond
A company have to set time to reply customer when the customer is make complaint in social media, like every 1 hour check one time the social media pages see have any message from customer and reply it immediately. Quick responds can help to calm the customer who make complaint instead of keep them waiting, quick response is one of the important key to handle negative feedback and dissatisfaction.

the topic that today we will discuss is the criteria of a good online spokesperson.


what is the criteria of good Online Spokesperson??

1. Knowledgeable
  • A good online spokesperson should be knowledgeable about the organization and the products that they are represents. Have knowledgeable about the organization and products also can easy to deliver the message to the audience. Besides that,a good online spokesperson also have be knowledgeable about how to using the social media such as Facebook, Blog, Twitter and so on. 
2. Credible
  • Credibility is one of the important to a online spokesperson, a online spokesperson if have enough credible it can make the audience have full trust in what they are say.
3.Good communication skill
  •  A good online  spokesperson need to have a very good communication skill, because a online spokesperson job always will need to communicate with the audience. Have a good communication skill can avoid the online spokesperson use wrong communication skill to deliver information and also can let the audience understand what is the message that the online spokesperson delivered.

In my opinion, I think Raymond Lam is the good online spokesperson for the LukFook Jewellery. Raymond Lam is  a very famous actors in Hong Kong and China, he also is singer in Emperor Entertainment Group.
Raymond Lam is a knowledgeable person. He also have high credibility for the public, people will trust what he say. Raymond Lam is a very famous celebrity in Asian, he Facebook have up to 10k people like his pagers.

Raymond Lam always will post and update the LukFook Jewellery new product in his Facebook pages.We can see that Raymond Lam had successful become a good online spokesperson and he also fulfil  all the criteria that I mention just now. 
Therefore, I think Raymond Lam is a very good spokesperson for LukFook Jewellery.

What is "Going Viral"?
Do you know what is Viral??


First and foremost, how do you determine/ measure if a content has gone viral?
When something gone viral, it is viewed by a very high number of people in just a short period of time . This is in contrast to content, say a video or blog post, that is only viewed by a relatively small number of people or viewed by lot of people over months or year.If the number of viewed only few hundred is not considered going viral, something having thousand or million of view can be considered going viral. And also the contents you are post have many like or dislike, and many people use hashtag to discuss you contents also may be considered going viral. 

Second,  what the factor of viral content?
Let us discuss few factor of make this become viral.
  1. Human Interest:This is very funny video and in this video show how Malaysian use a lot combine language in our daily life. And normally after watch this video people will laugh. 
  2. Prominence: The people produce this video and people insides the is the same person, which is Ling Big Yong. Ling Big Yong is a malaysia famous YouTube maker, he always like to produce video that is  funny and related to all the Malaysian.

" The New Roles of New Media Communication"

New media is a electronic communication that are made possible through the use of computer technology. The term in the relation to "old" media form, such as print newspaper and magazine, that are static representations of text and graphics. New media includes chat rooms, websites, e-mail and so on.

Firstly,
Nowadays, new media provide people a better way to communication with family or friends who are staying far. By using social media like Facebook,Instagram, Wechat, and etc, social media as a tool to help people communicate with other easily. For example, my mother side family are staying at kedah, we always use social media to communicate each other and it also can help us to maintain good relationship.


Secondly,
New media today also become a platform to let people share and get information. In this information age, people want to get information no need go to the special place and conduct a research. By using search engine can provide people all the information for example, google search, yahoo, duck duck go and so on. 


Thirdly,
New media also provide two way communication to people can give their comment or opinion on certain online discussion., the company or organization will always reply immediately.  Feedback , comment or opinion from public is a very important data for an organization or company. Though the feedback the company or organization know what the consumer want and how to reach consumer better.
